Michel Martelly, the new president of Haiti, has promised that all the impoverished nation’s primary school children would all be enrolled within his five-year term. With an estimated 770000 children targeted for the programme this year alone, many in Haiti are left to wonder who will pay the m annual bill for Martelly’s lofty goal. Further complicating Martelly’s ambition is the cost of repairs needed for schools damaged in last year’s devastating earthquake. Ross Velton reports for Al Jazeera from Port-Au-Prince.

  4. There was nothing special about this game. I could’ve beaten this team all by myself. This, obviously, was a weak team.

  11. Congrats to Haiti but any D2 team in Haiti can beat these guys. while we need these games to built on chemistry amoung ourselves as a team, we should be practicing with Concacaf leaders and South America teams. It’s vital we qualify for Brasil 2014. We need to play for the people under the tents and show the world our resilience. Plus, it would be great advertisement mechanism.

  25. Se komansman

  26. This man understands that Educatin will bring shelter. Education comes before shelter. You can’t buid a house if you have no knowledge. Smart choice, education first.

  27. $1.50 PER TRANSFER IS NOT ENOUGH! 5 cents per call is not enough as well. It should be $20 per transfer. 20 cents per call. The diaspora needs to be forced to get more involved in Haiti. On top of education, the money should go into developing Haiti’s agriculture and isolating one area (e.g., Jacmel, Tortuga, Les Cayemites, La Gonave, Ile A vache) for tourism. We need to create jobs in Haiti. Haiti is no longer the number one corrupted country. There are ways to verify if the money is stolen.

  28. Mandatory. Man and a surcharge. C’mon man be serious, but dont make it mandatory. Teach them true history.

  29. More theft. If this actually works out, the president of Haiti will be killed.

  30. I wonder how this will span out.
