so what have i learned so far?

1. composing an original self portrait every day is way more difficult than it sounds.

2. you must carry your camera much more than in the past

3. having a remote is VITAL

4. using a camera with 5 focus points is difficult, especially whilst composing a self-portrait. i’ve taken TONS of photos with the intended focus area completely blurry. this is why i really, REALLY want a d300. 51-point focus area… *swoons*

5. lighting is everything.

6. a good wall or background is pretty helpful, too.

7. people will always look. just smile right back. no, you’re not narcissistic (or maybe you might be). either way, this is your project, and you shouldn’t be discouraged by skeptic onlookers.

8. it’s best to do your 365 in the earlier part of the day…i’ve come fairly close to missing more than just a few.

9. since i started shooting my 365, i’ve tested out many types of processing. there have been some good, some bad, and some i don’t even know. either way, i like to experiment a bit.

10. photoshop. photoshop is awesome. oh yes. yes it is.

11. all of you are freakin’ awesome! because of flickr, i have been able to put my photos on display and receive some wonderful praise. i’ve seen some amazing photographers, convinced a bunch of my photographer friends to join flickr, and overall had a great experience here. thanks for everything you’ve given to me–it’s been really great.

Hydro Quebec Dash 8

I was a bit surprised to see this Dash-8-300 C-CJNL in Hydro Quebec’s colours. Normally they fly a Q400 in and out of Montreal so this is my first siting of a -300. Nothing special but always fun to spot something you haven’t see before or seen often.
