Hearing that Blockbuster was declaring bankruptcy reminded me about my days with Circuit City during it’s liquidation. This video is pretty much a long awaited rant on the company I once worked for.
Video Rating: 4 / 5
@JaredvaldezTV its august 8th and i see no circuit city.
@armymanusa22 well said
@JaredvaldezTV There is only a Circuit City website.
THEY ARE REOPENING THERE DOORS ON JUNE/16/2011
@eguil52 Check in your pants.
its sad circuit city is no longer with us
@LORDHOKAGE90 They would’ve had basic home audio stuff in the 50s such as record players and tube-based amplifiers. Of course, like most technology, it would’ve been extremely expensive and only a handful of people would be able to afford anything but the most basic of radios.
FUCK WALMART!
it was actually right with chapter 7, which means liquidation. Chapter 11 means bankruptcy protection which was what circuit city was in from November 2008 until closing was announced on January 16, 2009 when it converted to chapter 7
What ever happen to Wieners?
the only time i went there was on there barupted closing sale.
everything is online now
At least we still have staples.
Circuit City: high prices and lousy service. We didn’t heed ‘em and we won’t miss ‘em. F*** you, Circuit City.
Radio Shack= Criminal conspiracy, doped fraud, bully tactics, & $hitty product lines.
Not that Circuit City was any better.
Team Live-wrong (EPO, HGH, eHG, IGF-1, cow blood refills, autologous blood) will not save Circuit City.
Lance Pharmstrong is good at selling sneakers and spinning cow blood, NOT GOOD at selling TVs, video games, phones, amplified antenna receivers.
Hell ya newegg pwns.
Im sad too Rick cause this is what I bought from Circuit City.
04 – Camcorder for my Dad
05- True Crime for PS2 for $5
07- LCD TV
07- PS3
08- CD walkman
As for Blockbuster I dont know that the rumor is true but I seen 4 Blockbuster stores close to my house closed.
BTW Can you do one with KB TOYS plz. LOL
Im sad too Rick cause this is a list that I bought from Circuit City.

That’s nice, although I won’t be buying from it.
Newegg > Everything.
Blockbuster was going to buy Circuit City but the deal fell through. The sad irony is that Blockbuster is in a process of filings for bankruptcy too although their situation is a little different.
I almost cried when you killed the logobut it was funny. Circuit City was the most friendly stores whenever I sits in the TV room to watch sports they wouldn’t say anything. Id applied to Circuit City in Lakewood CA in 04 and they were nice to me. Didnt get the job but we became friends till the end.
dats chapter 11 there killer
they were open for 60 years
1988 would make it 20
best buy killed him….
Wow mues interesting video yeah those were some seriously STUPID Business decisions on CC’s part. and i vaguely remember when i was younger the constant changes in the local CC store everytime we walked in
I hate renting movies from the internet…it requires you to play „the waiting game“. when you can have a store to drive to NOT far from you, pick it up, and come back home the same day. NOW, Blockbusters (and other rental stores) are closing, and this shutdown of most rental stores is causing customers to become more dependent on internet movie renting…which is a hassle.
i blame redbox and netflix, these services are getting people bankrupt and eliminating jobs, im not looking forward to the next decade in terms of finding a job.
@AlienBeliever897 Agreed. Times are tough.
@pixstick There’s one in Wichita KS where I live that just shut down a couple months ago. Kinda sad to see all these stores going outa buisness.
Totally off-topic here but…. great shirt Marc
@pixstick Continued:
Blockbuster can be so much more conveint in many ways. But, if anything I believe that Blockbuster’s late fees played a part in their bankruptcy as well.
Anyone else remember HollyWood Videos? I haven’t seen a store in ages.
As everyone else pretty much already noticed, Blockbuster and CC hit rock bottom thanks to Netflix and Redbox and PPV may be one also. fpascale789 has a point on internet rentals being more of a hassel. I previously rented „Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1″, I waited for a month for some sort of status change, but unfourtunately, it kept switching from „Long wait“ to „Very long wait“ over and over again. Until I finally gave up and rented it from Blockbuster.
@wtbsfan It Now Closd
@opsan50
There was a Blockbuster not too far from my house its still there but i bet its customer service had rapidly declined a lot
@PichuBoy and redbox lol, but it’s sad because I liked blockbuster because I have one like 2 blocks down from my house but it closed 2 months ago :’(
geek squad was ALSO an independent company which Best Buy bought out…
I don’t remember too much from Circuit City because I rarely went there, and when I did I was just a kid at the time. I do remember my parents always preferring Best Buy and other places much more because they said Circuit City was usually more expensive.
Wow, I thought that the Circuit City closest to my location that was across the street from a Best Buy was stupid, but it seems that there was a lot of Circuit (Citys/Cities?; I don’t know) were close to a Best Buy… no wonder why it went bankrupt
Netflix blows
Out the nose
The Blockbuster In Whiteville,NC Is Closing
sucks i like blockbuster

@proctorxguru me too man. I hate to see the companies we grew up with disappear and the thought that in a couple of years nobody will now they even existed
@Hellcasters I know what you mean. I used to LOVE going into Circuit City. Their environment was so electric and computerized and I used to love going even if I wasn’t buying anything. I would even go just to have fun with the headphone demos and video-game demos. Heck, I played Metroid Prime for the first time at Circuit City. And the controllers and Systems were LIT UP!
Well the CC that I used to go to was weird , they closed their 1st store and it made into a „the city“ then opened a huge store across the street from a best buy , but the thing was from the road you couldn’t even see the CC ! I felt really bad when CC closed I liked going to both best buy and CC.
@lookatmues are,u,a,sellout.cause,u,a,partmers
I remeber when I worked at circuit city i worked warehouse it was kinda fun.
Mues, you hit the nail right on the head! Blockbouster are claiming the lease ran out but the bottom line is the Netflix concept and so forth are killing the Circuit Citys and the Blockbusters. The Netflix and so forth is the death knell of To correct you but The Cars song „Just What I Needed“ was from 1978 not the mid-1980s (the song doesn’t sound like a 1978 song).
As far as Blockbuster Videos goes I say goodbye and good riddance, they overcharged for rentals that were too short for what you payed and charged ridiculous late fees.
Every video store around where I live has either gone bankrupt or is in the process of going bankrupt, I work in a strip mall that has a video store in it and every time I go by it the place ie a ghost town with the only people in it being the employees the only customers they get there don’t even rent movies they rent games.
