Oxford Street Fire! Wowser!
This what happened when the shop opposite the FHM office did a cracking impression of Towering Inferno. The voiceover is from the hilarious fashion work experience girl. Apparently the shop’s summer range is… smokin’.

Cycling in Central London eastbound between Oxford Street and New Oxford Street, just past Centre Point. Lots of people, buildings, buses, cabs etc.

And lastly “ oh look he’s got his hose out, look at the size of that hose“ Is she for real or a comic character??????
Posh?!?!?! Are you serious?!?!?! Hahahaha
LOL!
lol@ they all be nicking stuff hehehe:)
your cycling is dangerous. You need to go on a cycle proficiency course. Infact cycling should not be allowed in large cities uand u should pay road tax and insurance
@MTheOverlord I’m a pretty experienced rider and wouldn’t touch this street with a bargepole – there’s no space and it’s full of dozy pedestrians who don’t know the area, buses and taxis. No fun, to the point of it being worth detouring a longer way round. Cycling in London doesn’t always have to be an adrenaline sport…
@Fitness4London It feels like MORE THAN 20 years behind after seeing Holland and Belgium, mate.

@talbotjack the bus drivers are some of the better ones, they just happen to be driving a huge hulk of metal around which changes the game a bit. I never cycle this street, it’s just not worth it.
@dr1141tube fail! at 3:38 it was a white girl with black hair and black clothing.
Oxford St is the most polluted place in Europe which is a big health problem in itself.
Nice video, it’s just a shame that the UK is about 20 years behind the rest of Europe when it comes to making cities cycle-friendly.
Munich for example has fantastic cycling lanes, protected from cars and pedestrians.
If it were safer to cycle in London, more people would probably use this form of transport, and we’d have a fitter and healthier city!
I think that’s right. I commute 20 a day in London. I think it helps if you drive, too. What people should remember is that drivers around you, esp behind, are watching cyclists either being stupid or not. If you ride in a sensible way (as here), don’t stick inches away from bumpers, squeeze through stupid gaps, etc, cyclists will actually find drivers around them treat them properly and give space. Surprise-surprise, they get annoyed and aggressive with idiots! Human nature.
Wow! I haven’t seen Oxford Street this quiet. Ever! Was it shut for filming or something??
@henrytheeigthiam
Glad you like the video – my only serious accident was falling off my bike outside my office last year just as I started off and knocking my front tooth out – all my own fault. Come and enjoy riding in London. I have driven in London all my life so cycling is just easy for me. I agree these other people have no clue what they are talking about.
Hey, I gotta say THANKS for this video. I’m relocating to London in the fall, and as an avid cyclist (and someone who’s never been to London), I’m trying to get a sense of what the commuter cycling experience is like. To me, it looks like if you pick your route with some reason, it’s not bad at all (despite what talbotjack opines…in fact you’ve got some seriously inexperienced riders weighing in on here, but nevermind that).
Thanks again for the great vid.
Apparently the „vest“ ripcord did not work properly!
I thought you were gonna die in an explosion at 3.38
This is a seriously scary video my friend. You are riding far too cautiously. What’s with this thing where you try to ride between the two yellow lines?
A cyclist in London needs to claim his space on the road and make himself an obstacle in the way of others so that they overtake you properly. All this riding in the gutter encourages taxis, buses and cars to attempt risky overtaking. And you also run the risk of hitting a brain-dead pedestrian who steps out in front of you.
talbotjack
Thanks for your concern – but so far, no mad cunts have mowed me down, and cycling in this city is actually quite fun – almost like a video game called „Survival“
MAD CUNT why cycle thro london riskin ur life. bellend cunts of bus drivers would mow you down
fenegroni
Where are you from? Have you ever visited or cycled in London?
I think the author of the video needs some serious training. He put himself in danger more often than needed, riding erratically and lacking anticipation.
But other than that, traffic looks pretty well behaved and it looks like it was safe to ride there. Don’t see how cycle lanes can make it any better, especially if they promote undertaking.
streets are too small in London. They ought to do something it’s getting worse and worse.
Oxford street, dance & dodging on ur bike, too jammed with buses for much of the day, no provision for cycling, not even those green boxes for cyclists at traffic lights.
Lucky I have a motorbike. Man, this is dangerous!
I agree and disagree to the congestion charge, ken livingstone didn’t do it for the congestion, he did it for the money, the problem with congestion charge is, that it was enforeced poorly, for people who lives in the congestion and for people who has had it extended to their area for no reason, I use to live in kennington, my problem was I had to pay £4 a week to drive out of my area into south part of the london out of the congestion, your fined if you don’t pay, this area is not congested.
Try doing this is brixton road, make sure your insurence is paid up and if you do, please let me know if you survived.
couldn’t agree with you more, what they should do in london is create cycle lanes on wide pedestrian pathways and make ‘J’ walking illegal in london, I am saying this as a Pedestrian, Ex-cyclist and a car driver.
