i made the interpretationnthat the lottery is not really meant for crops but meant for the higher class of the town to keep the status quo like summers martin and graves. they are the only ones who handle the box and prob cheat. old man warner is the propaganda speaker and tessie was the rebellion.

my 8th grade class watched this a couple of weeks ago, but we didn’t get to see the lady get stoned because we were still in school. so i searched the lottery on youtube just so i can see the lady get stoned. and it really wasn’t that gruesome at all

I watch this video yesterday, all the girls and my teacher began to cry a lot.
It’s supposed to leave an unsettling feeling. She’s conveying how people will carry on doing something that is sick or immoral only because they have been doing it for so long. Here, the people don’t even question why they’re doing it–don’t even remember what started it–but they continue for the sake of tradition rather than questioning themselves.
@toxicpencil just because she was imaginative and created a great work of fiction doesn’t mean she belongs in a mental institution.
