Here’s how I built mine…. the instructions:

I ended up using 2 old work lights. You just really need to play with the white balance to limit any post production (you might still have to crop to crop and change the exposure). The other day I tried a piece of black poster board and liked the effect. The checkboard was just a post production combo of one white and one black photo repeated.

How to shoot El Archo 2-11
2.	how to

The beginnings of a concept I call "Extreme Amphibious Landscape Photography" which involves a combination of disciplines used to gain access to inaccessible locations. In this case I had planned to rappel into the great arch ‘El Archo’ at Lands End, Cabo San Lucas. But the rock is rotten and not suitable for building climbing anchors in. Plan B: get dropped into the massive swells by boat and dash up the beach to safety. In this case those swells are over 8 feet and could knock a house down. The fun part was getting back into the boat without getting crushed by said boat. I intend to pursue this art form further. Wanna play?

As of early February 2011 this is how you got up under El Archo at Lands End, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Here’s the result of this lunacy:

And you can read more about this incredible location which I am completely obsessed with on this shot:

EDIT: As of late April 2011 the sandbar has returned and you can simply walk right up under El Archo. So chalk this whole adventure up to experience!
