    I’m learning this freakin’ hard piece right now, the only problem is that there is no fingering on the score, I am dying to know how to play those fast bits! T_T

    @guerraintima I would need to see the piano score but I think it might be difficult to transcribe for harp as we only use eight of our fingers when performing. The so-called pinky finger cannot reach the strings. Pianists, of course, can use all ten!

    @DSTelegraphRoad It does mean what you say, but jeux d’eau is also used as a term that includes all types of water constructions in a garden, things like fountains, but also water stairs, canals etc.

    I’m french. Jeux d’eau means „games of water“ and it has nothing to do with a fountain ^^ !

    @xtfcr7 It might be a better description..It isn’t.. Jeux means game, as Jouer means ‘to play’, eau is water. Quite sure, i learned french at secondary school :) (its usual in europe)

    @kspijker123 So Liszt’s „Les jeux d’eau à la Villa d’Este“ translates to „water games at the Villa d’Este“? Wikipedia translates as „Fountains at the Villa d’Este“… Besides, isn’t „Fountains“ a better description of this piece?

    @gumdrops27 the proper translation of the title is „fountains“. It’s always mistranslated by non-French people. (me included.)

    Wow…I’ve heard this piece many times and it’s always beautiful and shimmery. But the way she plays it, for the first time for me, it truly sounds like one, whole piece. She puts it together, weaves the melodic and rhythmic motives together in such a way that I feel like I’m truly hearing Ravel’s piece for the first time. I think what it is is that she doesn’t use too much rubato, nor does she ever rush; she sounds whimsical and purposeful at the same time. Not predictable, but understandable.
