US World Cup Team Returns From Germany
The USA women’s World Cup soccer team returned from Germany, after Sunday’s loss in the title game to Japan. Players met the media outside the W hotel in New York Monday. (July 18)

Now we are all getting used to the japanese team having won, and maybe accept it even more since the Japanese get the sympathy bonus for being a country shaken by disasters. But in the very moment they won the final it looked completely wrong to see the clearly better team loosing, by something that looked like destiny wanting the other team to win the title – no matter what their relative performance in that particular game.
For me, the U.S. girls won the japanese in playing class by a large margin, but they have finally beaten themselves. The japanese team played good but still far from being on-par with the U.S. most of the time, and they forsake fairness with the red-card foul in the last minute. I believe even themselves could not really be completely and honestly happy about having won, because their performance during the final did not really make them deserve it – the US girls have beaten themselves.
@LeeJono america is in poverty too you know, you just dont see it because the feds keep pumping out money, money that the government dont have, and also from the borrowing from china as well.

@rayleigh8 i’m sorry, except for cristiano ronaldo most male athletes look like baboons. and if the beauty of the game–whatever it is, whatever gender is playing–doesn’t make the physcal beauty contest fall away, you’re a moron. facts are facts. if athletes are good looking–great. it’s candy between meals. but a beautifully executed pass, passion, great strategy: that’s why a fan watches sports.
Too bad they will have to wait 4 years for another shoot to the title. Make the loss all that worst.

@billeybop Well… I think acceptance is gettin’ better, but only during the major tournaments, then it goes to sleep until the next time around.
Keep in mind, this is the world’s most popular sport, and the US is still behind.

The Japanese have a much lower center of gravity and this allows for better speed and accuracy. Former coach of the game. The U.S.A. will never accept soccer as a major sport because of professional football.
