TPU-CASES.COM brings you a review of the Otterbox Commuter Case for the HTC EVO 4G from Sprint. This is my first video review, so go easy on me in the comments please :) We don’t sell this case, but we do sell TPU cases for the Motorola Droid X, HTC Desire, HTC Droid Incredible, Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant, HTC EVO 4G, MyTouch 4G, Inspire 4G, Atrix, Etc. The Otterbox Commuter is available at otterbox.com, and I am not affiliated with them, nor was I paid or given free merchandise in exchange for this review. This video was recorded on a Motorola Droid 2.

  1. Does anyone know if the screen protector is like any other, so it allows for the touchscreen to be operated still?

  2. do you know if this case will fit the tmobile version of this phone?

  3. To much Cases…my Htc will Sweat…

  4. Can you put up a Htc Hd 7 video with otterbox please?

  5. How would you compare this to the Commuter in terms of size? I want good protection but still be able to carry it everywhere in my pocket. I watched both of your videos on the HTC HD2 case. Thanks !!

  6. One question that comes to my mind when I see this review and all other reviews on the Defender. It comes with its own screen protector built in, and screen protectors are sold for a reason. What do you do when you scratch up the protector? Is there a way to get the case replaced, or do I have to order a whole new Defender case?

  7. @wirelessground Hmm ok I’ll take ur word for it.

  8. @gsharpshooter80 The inner plastic case is VERY form fitted to the phone itself. It would be nearly impossible for the phone to be scratched when placed into this case.

  9. @danstechhelp Its a dummy, like the ones that are in carrier stores. Exact size dimensions and weight.

  10. I’m just wondering if the hard case that it’s sitting on will scratch it or not

  11. is that the actual hd2 or is it just the cardboard cutout

  12. its good, but once the phone hang or crash, taking the battery out to reset is pain in the butt…

  13. awesome review nicely done! i literally just got mine right now

  14. i got one of this Amazing stuff and i got to tell you that is the most powerful and beautiful cases i have ever saw worth evry peny

  15. do you know when the defender case will come out for the evo 4g?

  16. @XfreerideX, yes it is…

  17. Is that like a fake/display model HD2 you put in the case?

  18. BY far the best review of the otterbox. I was thinking of buying one Now im definetly sure . a big THANKS

  19. @minnesota573 The resolutions not the problem, the camera records in 1080p, it’s the lighting that was the issue. Anyways this was one of the first videos I ever recorded for youtube, I now have better equipment and lighting.

  20. Please use a higher resolution camera next time!

  21. @MallyG81 No idea what he sounds like. Always had a strong dislike for that show. Thanks though!

  22. You sound like Brian off of Family Guy. LoL…..

  23. @OneStepAhead608 haha i wouldn’t think so!

  24. @rianisawesome

I dont think anyone has ever told me that before!

  25. i know this is a weird comment, but your voice sounds just like my doctor’s

  26. @JaBunGa23 the mytouch 4g is the same version as this one. they are both commuter cases. im still waiting on otterbox to release it for the mytouch 4g… i keep dropping my phone…

  27. These can be obtained for about $20 at the current time on amazon or eBay. I was using the case for the past 5 months, but I’ve now switched to the Trident Cyclops and i LOVE it. I dont know if I would say its better then the Otterbox but you do have more color options, which is refreshing.

  28. is the mytouch 4g version of the case like this one?

  29. @OneStepAhead608 they designed the camera like that so case companies could release 50 dollar cases and make a bunch:) good marketing methods but bad for the users;p

  30. @azle3535 there are 2 ways to get that lock screen 1 as he did you can root it which voids your warranty or you can go to the market and download a free app or you can get the paid version its called lockbot and all you do is go into the program and pick whatever lock screen you like the best its that easy.

  31. @OneStepAhead608 its to help with wide-angle :]

  32. @kopie14

yes, it does a very nice job of protecting the poorly designed camera :) why on earth HTC did that, i have no idea.

  33. @kopie14 just bought one today that was the main reason why it seems to protect it good…they carry them at the sprint store

  34. Does the back raise above the camera lens to protect it from scratching?

  35. @azle3535

That is the stock vanilla lock screen with the Droid X live wallpaper. Yup, need to be rooted, as you have to delete the HtcLockScreen.apk file from /system/app, and the only way to do that is to be rooted. Once its deleted, the vanilla lock screen will appear in its place.. Rooting is very easy now since they released (i believe) a one click method. Send me a PM if you’d like the link for the Droid X live wallpaper.

  36. How did u get your lock screen like that? Does it have to be rooted for that?

  37. @gargamel55

Agreed, it is a bit slippery

  38. I like the way the otterbox covers my camera port. But the case is more slippery than I’d like it to be. The Seidio Active case has a really good feel to it, and more grip.

  39. @bojackson63044

I accidentally put the Otterbox to the test today. Was getting out of my car in a hurry and the EVO was on my lap. It flew up in the air and slammed down on to the concrete landing face down. Not a scratch on the case or the phone. It’s a miracle! It looks like it hit on the headphone port, and since its just silicone there it didn’t leave a mark. Lucky! I also found out Sprint is selling these at their stores & preferred customers get 25% off, makes it much more reasonable.

  40. Thanks for the review!

I find that with the Otterbox on, the phone wobbles a little when you are using the kickstand. Also agree with you on the questionable durability of the bottom flap that covers the ports.

  41. @euzzi

They are available now from otterbox.com or your local Sprint store. If you’re a preferred customer at Sprint you get 25% off accessories, and obviously no shipping charge, so I’d go that route assuming you have a local store that carries them.

  42. when can i order one ??

  43. @niggertoes

yeah its definitely thinner then it appears on their website. It fits quite nicely in my pocket with the commuter case.
