does it HAVE to be sata or can it be sata 2 or sata 3?? PLEASE ANSWER!
@dragonsGTO Could be that your Hard Drive needed to be formatted in FAT32. Other than that 5400rpm should work so if that’s not it you need to return the HD and get a new one.
@Ian9514 NO DO NOT DO THAT, I bought a 7200rpm before watching this video and like he says it is not compatible. I have boot issues and games that freeze on me. I am replacing it with a new 5400rpm today because I got tired of all the issues. SO USE A 5400rpm.
@dragonsGTO The rpm are to low you should buy a 7200rpm or faster hard drive.
PLEASE HELP! i got a 5400.3 seagate momentus 160 gig for my ps3. when i installed it into the ps3, it said it couldnt find a hard disk. i dont know why please help.
i followed it step by step with my 500gb 2.5inch sata 5400rpm samsung hardrive and it came up that it could not start due to it not being able to find something about the correct HDD ?
any ideas ?
Nvm… got it to work. had to jump through a few hoops but i got it

I have my ps3 slim for 2 weeks . There is no dust or something in my house . After playing deus x i selected system update . A message says Hard Disc cannot be accessed . I restart the console and the problem its gone . Do you know wtf is going on ?
well if u have a external hardrive anyway format it and jus keep it plugged in u can get a 2 terabyte (2000gb) for 150 dollars or even cheaper and format it and keep it plugged in more memory cheaper yes ore bulkey but yeh more space

@TheSuperdarkmatter … the harddrive has nothing to do with the disc-reader. the disc-reader is what plays the ps2 games and reads it.
Hi, I don’t know if this is the right place to ask, but I was wondering, if you replace the hard drive and fit the old hard drive into an external enclosure, would the ps3 save files still be on there?

@UARAF16 i got my old geforce 6200 pci to run oblivion some how (non oc’d). i think skyrim may be possible depending on your cpu, it sure won’t be pretty though
