Haiti trade hurt by poor infrastructure

Haiti is a poor country but it is rich in natural resources. The country grows some of the world’s finest mangoes and it is one of the country’s biggest exports after textiles. It should have a thriving mango industry but it only exports 10 per cent of its crop because of poor infrastructure. Al Jazeera’s Rob Reynolds reports from Grand Croix, Haiti.

  1. I’m gonna write this comment and in 100 years, can somebody reply to confirm that Haiti is still poor as shit in the 22nd century? Written on November 24, 2011 0231 EST.

  2. Haitian mangoes are the BOMB! All natural baby.

  3. Brazil will become a Haiti soon. I’m sure.

First, Haiti had a communist government. Second they let the USA dictate their country.

    Brazil is in this way.

  4. Even if you gave Haiti the best, most modern infrastructure possible, mostly likely all of it would crumble and go into decay within a few short years.
How often have you ever seen blacks maintain anything for a prolonged period of time? Sad to say, but giving money to black nations is just as good as lighting cash up in fire.
There’s never going to be longterm benefit no matter how much money you throw at them until they decide they want to live peacefully and civvily like most other humans.

  5. @d4vidD3llaR0cc0 lol that could happen, but when blacks wanna control there own affairs there seen as racists, you know i never understood why whites historically even some today hate blacks, because African countries or people never did anything to European countries. It seems like whites always hated blacks because of the way they look and ignorance.

  6. Wow really.. V V V V V V V Your very rude. Hatian mangos are the best :)

  7. @KKKSuperFan

LOL Haitians are the worst niggers on earth.

  8. @ilieklolcatz „Number one problem facing Haiti today: Haitians live there.“ ,so true dude !!

The Haitians worst enemy can be identified by having them look in the mirror

  9. God bless Haiti and may recovery efforts be successful so they may enjoy a prosperous nation for decades to come…

  10. mmmm mango’s coffee and rum…thats a tasty combination

  11. @MsColdCanada It’s hard to follow Haiti. The press harps on Chavez and Castro, but Haiti, which we have „helped“ many times with our military, is ignored. When we were removing Aristide, the western press was 400 miles away in Aruba, chasing the Holloway girl. Haiti was barely a mentioned in the news, and gave no analysis of Bush’s claim that we rescued Aristide at his request.
Honduras is similar. Hillary seems very comfy throwing the oppressed under a bus if they aren’t in the mid-east.

  12. @PRIVATEAYEIEYE I know some of the Duvaliers and was shocked to see that he was returning to Haiti. I admit I didn’t stay on top of the news to see what happened with him. I did not know (from TV and news reports) that Haiti’s society is divided like that. It’s sad to hear. Societies enable cruelty when they have a caste system. It’s hard to get my brain around from the outside looking in. I’m still hoping for better days all around the globe.

  13. @MsColdCanada The problem is that the army has always been a form of welfare AND a tool to oppress the population. Look up Papa or Baby Doc Duvalier.
Haiti is one of those societies that makes up it’s own reasons to split the population in two. Who you are related to, and the darkness of your skin, are everything there. You’d never know it watching TV, but there are many Haitians doing very well. They’re the ones who buy house slaves.
For some reason I can’t fathom, we keep enabling them.

  14. @PRIVATEAYEIEYE I have to admit I don’t know much about Haitian politics but don’t most countries in the world have an army? I’m pretty sure they do. In our country the army comes to help communities if we have an emergency like flooding, they help pile sandbags to protect the roads from washing out and things like that. Maybe in Haiti they could get army guys to help with infrastructure also?

  15. @ilieklolcatz any countries greatest resource is its people except in black countries -there the people are its greatest liability.

  16. make your own roads. White man could.

  17. @stevenrayanderson Fuck off, you self-righteous dolt. No need to answer.

  18. @ilieklolcatz I’m very sorry you misunderstood. There is no way I want to have a conversation with you. I just wanted to point out that you are a dumbass. The Haitian people are very dear to my heart because I’ve been there and I had the honor to serve them. My question to you was rhetorical. I just wanted to point out to the readers that you probably have no knowledge of these people and no understanding of what they are going through. No need to answer.

  19. @stevenrayanderson I am also sorry for your misunderstanding. My offhand remark was intended to dismiss your post — indicating that I have no wish whatsoever to have an argument with you. I hope you will graciously accept my humblest apologies for not making myself completely clear and kindly sod off.

  20. @ilieklolcatz Sorry, my spellchecker says dumbass is two words. I apologize for the misunderstanding. What I was trying to convey is that your ass is dumb and by that I don’t mean your actual ass. What I mean is you are an ass and you are dumb. By the way, have you ever been to Haiti?

  21. @stevenrayanderson At least I can spell dumbass.

  22. @ilieklolcatz You’re a dumb ass. Have you ever been to Haiti?

  23. @sharksarefriends That’s a good quote. I was in Haiti in December and I’ll be going back soon. What Haiti is rich in is people. They are wonderful. If you know anything about their history, you can see why they’ve had a hard time. They just need some help.

  24. @Norskebanan if you are not from Haiti keep your mouth shut! people like you cant get over the fact that a bunch of Blacks were not going to tolerate enslavement so they waged war against it. Get over it you act as if Whites are all angels look at the millions killed during WWI and WWII and other deadly wars before those two. Besides whites brought over the Africans so they can be used to extract wealth from land that they took from the indigenous Taino and Awarak people. Evil has no color.

  25. Dominican products are way better :P
