The display reads:

130 MM Field Gun

M1946

Former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, Iraq

This weapon was developed from the M1936 naval gun and replaced the 122 mm M1931 / 37 A19 in the Soviet Army. It is versatile, with powerful counter battery and anti-tank capabilities, (can penetrate 250 mm armor at 1,000 meters). It features a horizontal sliding wedge type breechlock and fires case-type, variable charge, separate loading ammunition. It is distinguished by its long barrel, pepperpot muzzle brake, small shield (sometimes ommited), recoil system above and below the barrel, and box type trails with detachable spades. A two wheeled limber enables rapid transport, for which the tube is retracted until the breech is between the trails. Though developed by the Soviet Union, China has been the principal supplier to Third World countries. This weapon was brought to Fort Sill as a war trophy by the 212th Field Artillery Brigade.
