today is the first day of my 4th year on flickr.

my 3rd anniversary.

flickr counts its official birthday as ferbruary 10th, when they launched at etcon, but they opened up a door for some GNE people shortly before that.

flickr wasn’t anything like it is today. it was primarily a flash chat interface for sharing photos in real-time.

no interestingness, no tags, no comments.

no photostreams, for that matter.

.. but it was fun, and we all loved it despite [or perhaps because of] its limitations.

there’s been a lot of talk lately about what it means to be ‘old skool’.

i’m about as old skool as it comes, and i will tell you this much right now:

for me, as much fun as flickr was then – it is 3 times as fun now.

Random self-portrait. Born by the fact I was in a passive aggressive Y!M status message war with an old flame. (very mature, I know) To which I had to tell said friend that I have a heart. Enough to accommodate a museum. Needless to say, that is 5 years of friendship down the drain. If you are my friend in Y!M you would know what I am talking about. I am a status message geek.

Feeling a little in the dumps. I won’t be in your internetz for quite a while. Except for flickr (of course) and all my other secret internet accounts.

Ooh, i think I have my favorite image coloring technique now. Perhaps.

For Today’s Random Fact: I have this weird fascination for witty boys with bad hair and bad teeth. Case in point: said friend. I do not know why.
