After Mike Reeder lost both legs in Vietnam, he returned to the US looking for purpose and direction and found them during a chance encounter in a golf pro shop. Watch more videos like this at www.espn.co.uk
Most excellent Mike..you are truly an inspiration..
I love you Mike.
God bless you.
Doc Reeder! If you will allow for it….I would really like to send you some Combat Medals I had specially made for FMF Corpsmen. They are (golden) and not Matte Black as was in issue for Combat Army Medics. These were somehow passed over for us in the Navy, and truly bewildered, I had 50 of them made up to distribute myself. I can send you seven if you wish for your Corpsman Combat friends. Just give me an address, and hey you are looking good Doc. Stay with the golf!
Doc Mike Reeder……..SIR…!…This is Doc Mike Ambra also a combat VET..! I hail from Fox Co. 2/9 FMF We moved through Operation Hickory and The Prarie Incursions @ the Zee……67&68. I was so moved by your dedication to life and of course your heavy sacrifices with the Marines. I`m humbled by your dedication to others. Please see my writing also of „Torment Of A Distant War“. Please forgive the „whiney“ dis-focus of it and remember my respect for your example. SEMPER FI
Mike, you really are an inspiration. As an „Old Marine 1953-56″ I can begin to appreciate your devotion. Semper Fidelis, and anchors aweigh!
Thank you for such an emotional story Sir may God bless you you are truly an awesome American
hey doc mike, i never served but i love all the ones that have. thank all of them. i love your video!!!!!
Doc, your story brought a tear to my eye, a couple of times. Thank you sir for that wonderful story, for your courage, for your determination to see thru your best freinds dream, and for being the man you are.
Thank you for your service to this country, and please accept my „welcome home!“
Bill Murtha, ICC(SS), USN Ret.
From one Corpsman to another – You are an example of the spirit and dedication of those who sacrificed that others might live.
Thanks Doc.
Steve Olson, HM1, USN
You better believe i will never complain about anything again. When i graduated from Howe Military School, all my class mates got a draft card on graduation day, i even got one giving me a citizenship and a scholarship, I was a Master Sargent; and if i accepted it where to be promoted to a Lieutenant, just like you see it in the movies; a young (18) inexperience, clean cut rookie leading a bunch of Momas boys to the horror that was Vietnam. Thank You Doc. Visit Venezuela will play some 3rdWGolf
God Bless this Guy and all of our vets

My grandpa smoked from age 13 to 83, total 70 years and died at age 89, not from cancer, and he smoked the cigarettes without filters many years too so don’t judge.
Wow Mike! From one golfing HM to another: BZ brother, you are a true inspiration. If you’re ever in the Beaufort SC area look me up and we will play a round.
Thanks for your service and determination. I’m a songwriter, and like many others, many of my friends served in Viet Nam. A song I have written „Seemed Like War To Me“ was written to honor those who served. Some came home in pieces both physically and mentally. It was years before I could sing it without breaking down. Your story is touching and inspiring. So glad you recovered and found happiness in your life. Bill
i dream of shooting in the 70′s…ur the shit mike!
THANK YOU Mr. Reeder. You are a true inspiration to us all. God bless you sir!
A remarkable story indeed, however you have now become a „True“ golfer. Not because you are in a wheelchair, not because you broke 80 around the „old course“, not because you overcame adversity. You are a True Golfer simply because you buried your dead buddy on the 14th, but carried on and finished the round.
I wish you all the very best sir.
@abfitch02071978 I disliked it just for the hell of it…. so there!
:}
Very inspirational video….Can someone please give me the music playing at the background starting from 0.15 to 1.35 ….will highly appreciate the same thanks….
What great adversity you have faced….I am so happy that you were not able to make it out the window……what a loss. As a veteran of our Country I am proud to have heard your story. As for those who oppose your story of your friend, we have a choice to standby our friends and made the correct one. After all, he stood by you and your wife sounds like a truly remarkable woman. Don’t let the negatives outweigh the positive!
Very moving. But don’t talk to us of the pain of losing someone to lung cancer while smoking. It’s hypocritical.
@abfitch02071978 I think the dislikes are people disliking shitty comments.
THANKS MIKE FOR YOUR SERVICE TO AMERICA!! AND SHARING YOUR STORY. GOD BLESS!
And I complain about my game, I am embarrassed. The three dislikes are malcontents and jealous of Doc Mike. Thanks for your service Mike and glad you were able to keep your promise to your friend!
Thanks, Doc Mike.. Welcome home
