The former HQ for Detroit Public Schools. This coming December will mark my 15th year with DPS. I was hired in December 1995 and started in January 1996 (either way, it’s still 15 years), and I’ve seen a lot of things happen, most of which was not so good!

The one thing that still bothers me even though it’s history now, is that why would DPS sell a house that they had bought, built, and paid for, just to shell the exact same amount of money-if not more-to rent facilities throughout the district?

Still don’t get that one!

And DPS reasons that selling their old HQ (the former Schools Center Building) was a good deal. Okaaaayyy….

Now anything-and I do mean anything that you needed was in that building with the exception of DPS warehouses in certain parts of town. Now you have to take a more convoluted route just to get the necessities just to go through a simple 8 hour day?

Still losing sleep over that as well…

Wayne State University now operates that building as well as our National Public Radio station. I believe-unless they’ve relocated-DPS radio still operates there also.

I guess it’s no total loss…

Still shaking my head in disbelief after all these years.

Finished up my Discrete Math and Assembler homework a little early, so I thought it might be good to update my desk picture. I have recently picked up the Apple Extended 2 keyboard, and I have been trying that out. I like it a lot so far. I also have recently been using a new thin aluminum Apple Bluetooth keyboard, but I’ve been switching between the two a bit.
