The first time I saw her perform this song, I didn’t get it … now, I can’t get enough of it. I guess one of those songs that has to grow on you, but she is blessed & we are blessed us with this song!
i think she is overworked. her voice sounds tired and sometimes she is off-beat.
I bet she’s a wonderful person and she does have a nice voice and all that, but am I the only one who think she’s a little off beat or „out of sync“ in this performance? Seems like she’s only focused on trying to keep up with the music, and not really singing from the heart. The swedish original with Helene Sjoholm is much better…
@sfbaygirl Susan Boyle has a gift for phrasing and enunciating words that always makes me hear meaning in songs that other versions didn’t bring forth. I also think she’s got great producers and arrangers working with her.

Though the setting is questionable, she still has a beautiful and powerful voice. Susan Boyle definitely has a fan in me. Her look is updated too so she now ever looks the part of a star. GO SUSAN!

Perhaps the strongest moment from any Swedish musical. Based on Moberg’s Emmigrant series the musical Kristina från Duvemåla by Björn and Benny (ABBA) is set in the mid 1800s. The Swedish immigrant Kristina suddenly realises that she doubts the existence of God, her only safe haven in strange, wild Minnesota. She is rocked to the depths of her soul and rushes out in mid-winter, in the dead of night. It’s nice that English-speakers can enjoy it, even though this setting doesn’t do it justice.
Susan you’ve got enought money to live on for life…So just go away, stop torturing beautiful songs with your voice. You dont even come to the edge of greatness.

What we have here is a talented women who’s overworked. She’s just finished recording an album and she’s 50 years old, then she has to go in front of millions in the USA. To those who say that the others are better, remember who Susan Boyle is, she’s about overcoming the odds not about being the best ever.

But I do know this song, where it comes from and what it’s about, and I think that if you’re about to sing this song, you should know what the story is about. What the text wants to convey to the listner, and it’s the one who are singing the song’s job to portrait and explain that to the audience. Unfortunately I don’t think that Susan does it here.
I think she is doing a good job, but for this to be even better she needs to show us emotions too.

I think that Susan is doing a good job with this song, I really do. But it’s not great and therefore I don’t think she really deserves this attention with this performence, because there is someone out there who makes this masterpiece a truly masterpiece and her name is Helen.
When you’re about to sing a song it’s very important to know what the song is about ,what feelings to share and I don’t think that Susan does it all. And it’s there, in my opinion this performence breaks and Helen wins.

A great interpretation. Susan uses very well the upper and lower registers, and his voice is perfect and pure. it does not break and there is no tune. At the end of voice receive the best possible sense, and it is absolutely awesome. Susan you are too good – i love you. I hope that you will never lose hope in life

What an amazing song…it is almost impossible to listen to it and not be moved to a point of tears. I thought it was a redo of a huge hit from years ago and here it is a new song for and by Susan. What a gift to the world she is. I give it a 20 out of 10.

@Katsmeow44 I’d like to know where all these „hundreds“ of flattering photos are then? Anyone that googles her images can see for themselves there’s hardly any. You can blame the general media for this though as this is the way they want it. But anyway, instead of complaining about someone else’s video, why don’t you make your own video of the song? You can find nothing but „flattering“ photos(that suit you) and make it as „real“ as you want.

I think the music machine is taking a natural talent and changing it to what they think people want , and is sellable , because that is the bottom line, take “ I have A Dream “ on her audition night , she hit the high note in one breath, even had Ant and Dec shouting , now she takes a pause , it spoils it for me , Unchained Melody, the same , slow , pauses all the time, wastes the song for me , this girl can sing, so if it aint broke , don’t fix it
