Electricians block Oxford Street London and protest - FRFI NEWS - 5th October 2011

At the end of July, multinational construction companies wrote to electricians to annouce that they are withdrawing from the National Working Agreements in order to drive down conditions and pay – the worst-hit will see their wages cut by 35%. Up and down the country electricians are organising in an inspiring way, pushing Unite, the union, to back their actions, determined that illegal or legal, official or unofficial, their voices will be heard and civil disobedience will escalate. In London, the weekly 6.30am Wednesday demonstrations by electricians and their supporters, including Fight Racism! Fight Imperialism! continue. We joined them on Wednesday 5 October at Tommy Clarke’s site in Oxford Street…

  20. Religion is fine until people go yelling about it in your face. Keep yourself to yourself and respect everyone else’s right to live life the way that they want to.

  21. @jimmy9303 : i dont think so.. because if you think about the best you can be for a certain religion, are they really the best? .. whats the best muslim you can be? .. what type of person would you be? .. whats the best Jew? … does it make sense who they are, when they at their best? .. the best a christian can be is to be a loving person. thats why its different.

  22. @chocomocha thats the same with every religon

  23. Theres Christianity, So-called Christians and True Christians. They not the same.

  30. As the employers and government play the tough hand against sparks, they seem oblivious to the fact that there are many miles of High Voltage cable (11 KV and above) exposed and vulnerable to any open flame. Insulation is critical.
Those who travel by rail see bundles of cables along the route. Some are coloured red. One cable may serve several office blocks in a city. Hundreds of people work in these office blocks and the financial district of London is totally reliant on electrical power.

  31. If everyone of us there brings one person each next week. Thats well over a thousand of us outside the Tate

  32. No to pay cuts!!!!
