iPhone 4S in Space

Tweet: bit.ly We launched 2 iPhone 4S phones with a weather balloon to go up to 100000. We put one of the iPhone 4S’s on an interval photo timer app and the other on video mode. We used s Spot GPS tracker (though I would not recommend it because it only tracks in 15 minutes increments. Here is a behind the scene video as well as a more in depth tutorial for those of you who want to do something similar. The FAA was also involved so no airplanes were hurt in the making. Watch: www.youtube.com Music – Tribute to Steve Jobs: www.youtube.com Check out my facebook page: www.facebook.com *Apple did not pay me to make this video or post it. Rather, I would like to consider this a tribute to Steve Jobs and his genius creativity that will be remembered forever. *Special thanks to OtterBox for the iPhone 4S cases. The iPhones survived.

  5. @BMW9871 it would never fall because it wouldn’t get high enough to be able to fall. It would float around at the highest it can. The balloon would fail eventually, which is what the parachute was for.

  10. @BMW9871 It would only burn up if it was going really fast like a space capsule re- entering the atmosphere. It’s high speed friction that creates the burn. Most rockets re-enter at about 17,000 mph. The ballon would merely begin to sink once it begins to become more dense than the atmosphere surrounding it.

  11. those who think it’s fake, watch how to launch weather ballons

  12. @BMW9871 It was a weather balloon that’s why it went so high up. It was still in the atmosphere just really high up in the dark which is technically considered space. it didn’t burn up because it never really left.

  13. *true and we can all say that the video is real and fake :)

  14. Balloons can’t float/fly/drift in space.

When they reach a certain altitude, they burst. The higher it goes, the less air. The reason some balloons float is because the air that’s inside it is lighter than the air outside the balloon. In space, there is no air, making the balloon heavier than it’s surroundings, thus causing it to fall. Then again, the earth’s atmosphere would burn up anything entering the earth, so that means there would be no iPhone anymore.

However, both these facts are t
