Umeda: 100 Yen Store

Another great thing about Japan. I know most of Americans have seen a "one dollar store" or something of the like. I usually think of those as being really cheap places that carry nothing but junk. In Japan, the 100 yen store has crazy good deals on everything you can think of. At the current exchange rate, we are talking about 85 cents for beverages that would normally cost 160 yen or a cup of noodles for half its normal price. You can get chop-sticks or band-aids… Whatever you need. If you are a traveler, learn to shop these places and it will save you money. There are a couple really good ones in Nara, and a big Daiso in Harajuku and Kyoto.
