World Cup Crisps

There is something about the World Cup that turns me into a memorabilia collecting anorak.
I’m not a massive football fan, I follow the ups and downs as best I can of my home team Bristol Rovers but when it comes to the World Cup, I find myself taken over every four years during the competition.
I fill in the scores on my wall chart, I used to as a boy collect the Figurine Panini stickers in the books and I used to wait with baited breath for the unveiling of the World Cup Mascot (my favourite being Spain 1982’s Orange Naranjito).
The World Cup is also the only time I really become an England supporter and get behind the country where I was born. The rest of the time I can really understand (thanks to living in Wales for the last 20 years) why no one really likes the English.
I also like to choose another country to follow and cheer on. The last World Cup it was Ghana (because I travelled round that wonderful country in 2001) and because they have qualified again, I’ll be cheering on the ‘Black Stars’ this Summer.
Anyway, when I saw that Walkers were releasing 15 new flavours for the World Cup (must had been devised a while back as Wales has a flavour as well as Scotland and Ireland and none of those countries have managed to qualify) I let out a cheer of joy as I could combine my love of crisps with my love of the World Cup and my school boy love of collecting.
Here we have England’s entry which of course is Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding which were actually quite nice.
Watch this space for the others, I hope to get all the 15 flavours soon.
