(008/365) December 6, 2010: Caroline, YouTube, and iMovie

I started a new picture of the day theme today, "Life at Lafayette in early December." Today we experienced snow, cold temps, and students working on final projects like Caroline here uploading her group’s Spanish video to YouTube about intramurals at Lafayette. Sadly, Caroline and her group started working on their video in iMovie HD instead of iMovie ’09 where they encountered an error saving it. Ironically, they saved it first before exporting it to avoid disaster if the export failed. Turns out you’re really screwed when the save process fails. Caroline traveled with me last spring on an Alternative School Break club trip to DC, so I walked her group through iMovie ’09 even though it was already 5:00. Thankfully for all of us, we were able to get out by 6:00 with the video uploaded perfectly to YouTube. At one point when using iMovie ’09 Caroline said, "Jason, are you trying to belittle our efforts by showing us how easy iMovie ’09 is to use."
I don’t think I can really compare my job to mercenaries like the A-Team, but I still think Hannibal’s motto is fitting: "I love it when a plan comes together."
